Geo Explorer is an educational game, aimed at creating a virtual environment for civil engineers, trying to implementing in a realistic style and convey knowledge and unique play experience to players.
I was working with teams of professionals in this project, including researchers from RPI and our own development team, under the guidance of my professor Casper Harteveld, our project is shipped and played by thousands of students from various universities. The feedbacks are excited to hear.
As one of the main programmer of this game, I will share several screen shots to show part of my contributation to it.
Let’s see some video’s first :
Outside environment, using TAA to achieve the best result.
In lab environment, player can interactive with objects highted and perform several tasks,
baked GI with realtime point lights.
Lighting in action, procedural generted lighting with skybox&lighting animation.

Double sided Toon shading water with transpancy, color change according to depth, able to adjusting wave funtion and distortion, normal shifting to create vaious effect, all in one shader.

Same shader, with reflect_max, sampled from static cubemap, with normal strengh 0.5 and a high smoothness.

Performant GPU batching grasses without Unity’s terrain system, able to perform shadow casting and receiving, waving and bending.

Volumic lighting without HDRP, achieved in forward rendering, to mimic the effect of GodRay.
Procedural cracks before levee failure, notice the vertex position has been changed and crack is changing in both width and length.
Tool for our environment artist and designers and to place and orient prefabs directly on mesh easily.
I learned a lot from this project also enjoyed working with my colleagues, the journey will continue and story wont end.
